Lokali

Ranking Transparency

As of: June 2026

This page discloses the main parameters by which Lokali ranks listings and job postings in search and result lists, and how those parameters are weighted relative to one another. The disclosure is provided pursuant to Section 2(6a) of the Austrian Unfair Competition Act (UWG), implementing the EU Omnibus Directive (Directive 2019/2161), and additionally pursuant to Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 (P2B Regulation). It is directly and easily accessible from every result list.

1. Main ranking parameters

The order of results is determined by several main parameters. No single parameter is decisive on its own:

  • Relevance to the query: how well the title, description and category of a listing match the search term entered.
  • Proximity: the distance between the listing and the location chosen by the user or detected automatically.
  • Recency: how new or how recently updated a listing is.
  • Quality and trust: the completeness of the listing, existing reviews, any verification, and the responsiveness of the providing person or business.

2. Relative weighting of the parameters

The relative weighting depends on the context:

  • For an active search with a search term, relevance to the query is the most important parameter, followed by proximity and recency.
  • In the discovery view without a search term, recency and proximity predominate, followed by quality and trust.
  • For job postings, the transparency of the salary information is an additional factor in the ranking.

3. Paid promotion (Boost)

Private users and businesses may promote a single listing for a fee (Boost). For promoted listings, the following applies:

  • They receive reserved positions in the result list and are always clearly marked as “Sponsored” (the duty to label paid advertising under Annex Z 11 UWG).
  • They do not displace organic results from the top positions; the leading positions remain organic.
  • Within a single list, a listing never appears as both organic and sponsored at the same time.

Important: The organic ranking itself cannot be bought. A payment improves visibility solely through the clearly labelled promotion (Boost), never the organic score of a listing.

4. Reviews

Reviews and stars come exclusively from genuine users following a contact or a job arranged via Lokali. We do not create reviews, figures or rankings artificially, and we do not buy reviews. Reviews may feed into the “Quality and trust” parameter.

5. Business users

For businesses that publish listings on Lokali, the main ranking parameters and the reasons for their relative weighting are additionally disclosed in the Terms and Conditions (Article 5 of the P2B Regulation 2019/1150).

6. Company directory

In the company directory, businesses are ranked by ratings, the completeness of their profile, any verification, and their activity. This ranking is organic and cannot be bought; there is no paid promotion in the company directory.

7. Changes and contact

We continuously develop the ranking logic further; material changes are reflected on this page. For questions about ranking, please contact us at [email protected].
